Simoni Pilavakis

Osteopath

Simoni has been in practice for over 12 years, both in Australia and overseas. She is an advocate of the benefits of osteopathic treatment from infancy to childhood as well as for adults.

Simoni has a keen interest in the treatment of women pre and post-natally and this naturally leads to the treatment of babies and children. During pregnancy some women experience various kinds of discomfort which they feel are part of being pregnant, but in fact can be resolved with osteopathy. At the Bardon Counselling and Natural Therapy Centre we have a special cushion which allows pregnant women to lie safely on their stomachs during treatment.

Simoni’s treatment style is gentle and uses minimal force. These subtle techniques (including cranio-sacral techniques) are non-invasive and very relaxing. They can bring relief for acute pain, but it’s no quick-fix therapy. The treatment aims to find the root cause of your problem by looking at the body as being more than just the sum of its parts. If one part is not functioning well and causing discomfort, it will have an effect on the other parts and therefore the whole. Your whole body must function well for total health to be expressed.

Simoni also advises on exercise and stretching  and is happy to collaborate with other health professionals as needed. She is a member of Practitioners Connected, www.practitionersconnected.com, a network of health professionals dedicated to providing professional care from preconception to pregnancy and birth.

Private health rebates can be claimed on the spot. Some patients may also be eligible for subsidised treatment through Medicare.

Simoni  is available for appointments at Bardon on Fridays. She can also be found at The Gap on weekdays.
